Etymology
Literally "confluence of the Fei". Named after the confluence of the South Fei River and the East Fei River (historically known as the Shi River and the Fei River). The Commentary on the Water Classic records: "The Shi joins the Fei, hence it is called Hefei" (施合於肥，故曰合肥).
