Etymology
Phono-semantic compound (形聲 /形声, OC *ken, *kin): phonetic 垔 (OC *qin) + semantic 瓦. The Middle Chinese pronunciation shifted from kjien (堅 /坚 (jiān)) to tsyin (真 (zhēn)) due to naming taboo of Sun Jian (孫堅), father of the founder of Wu Kingdom (222-280), These is followed by Fu Jian (苻堅) and Yang Jian (楊堅).
