Phono-semantic compound (形聲 /形声, OC *kʷaːŋ, *qʰʷaːŋʔ): semantic 忄 (“heart”) + phonetic 光 (OC *kʷaːŋ, *kʷaːŋs). This character replaced 怳 (OC *hmaŋʔ)'s usage in the late Middle Chinese.
